How to choose a budget laptop

So, how do you choose a budget laptop, so that, on the one hand, it’s not expensive, but on the other hand, it meets your requirements? The principle of manufacturing budget laptops is the same for all manufacturers: a specific product series is produced that has the same design, but depending on the configuration, the price varies. Therefore, you should first decide on the appearance of the product, the type and quality of the materials used in the build, the keyboard layout, take into account the size, weight, color combination, etc. It's best to do this comparison in a store where a wide selection of products is presented, but it's not necessary to buy there :). When it comes to the brand, it's a matter of personal preference. In principle, all well-known companies offer similar solutions in terms of price, though, of course, under equal conditions, you'll have to pay a little more for a more famous brand (I should note that we're not talking about expensive laptops, where sometimes you pay double just for the brand). Of course, it would be good to consult a specialist because there are nuances such as the convenience of preventive maintenance of a budget laptop, the ability to install a second hard drive, or the availability of drivers for different versions of the operating system, etc.

So, for more clarity, let's take a look at a series of popular budget laptops: the Lenovo IdeaPad G-550 and G-555. (Therefore, any other line of laptops can be considered here). This series was known for its competitive price, good materials, high build quality, and well-thought-out ergonomics. The screen, of course, doesn't have high-end performance (that’s why it’s in the budget segment), but it doesn't cause any particular complaints either. Then, it’s simple: choose the Intel platform (G-550) or AMD (G-555), and then the price will depend directly on the configuration. A more powerful processor, the amount of RAM, the capacity of the hard drive, the presence of various connectors, a webcam, etc. The advantages of this approach are obvious: choose only the components you need and there’s no need to pay extra for something you don’t require.

In terms of performance, budget laptops have done quite well with everyday tasks for a long time. Even watching high-resolution videos is not a problem. Furthermore, for a price of $500 or more, you can already choose a laptop with gaming performance. With an excellent dual-core processor, all the necessary connectors are available, including HDMI, a 320-500 GB hard drive, a card reader, and a webcam. You can even choose a laptop with two video cards and, by pressing a key, use a discrete video adapter if needed, which will allow you to use the laptop for gaming.

Of course, for that money, you won’t get excellent performance, but with moderate configurations, you can play almost all modern games. However, gamers shouldn’t flatter themselves: a gaming laptop costs more money.

Therefore, it is absolutely natural that budget laptops have constant demand. Of course, it’s important not to “overdo it,” so to speak. Because at the lowest price, you can save $20-$30 and get a budget laptop with an outdated single-core processor or a netbook processor that is an order of magnitude less powerful. No one is going to sell outdated products at half-price. $400 is the minimum amount you should have today to buy a state employee laptop, but it’s better to add a little more, and as they say, you’ll have more options... And of course, don’t forget that the lowest prices for such products are only offered in online stores.

Good luck with your purchase.
